This program provides equine and other agricultural training experiences to adults with disabilities who are over the age of 22 years old and currently no longer attending school. The program participants will learn the day- to-day skills during this two hour program that are required to care for horses, and to maintain a clean and healthy barn environment. Once they learn these skills they may be able to transition to other farms in their community or other programs to obtain employment.
· Clients will learn how to plant vegetables for the animals from seed. They will learn to water, weed and harvest the vegetables. Individuals will have their own section of the garden to maintain. They will truly gain the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of their labor by feeding the vegetables to the animals at Inspire Equine Therapy Program.
· Our friendly horses have been trained specifically for therapy work. Clients will be able to learn to muck stalls, clean paddocks, and provide regular food and water. Plus they will work their way into taking care of the actual horses.
· Practically speaking, all adults need to know how to care for their property. Clients will learn skills such as pulling weeds and general yard maintenance, as well as mending fences and painting. All regular maintenance that a Ranch requires will become work experience for our clients.
We currently partner with LYF, Inc in Clearwater by offering this program.
